School Program Minimize

The Conservation Learning Centre's School Program offers students in grades three through 11 practical, hands-on activities that reinfforce the foundational and learning objectives set out in the Saskatchewan Education curriculum.

This new curriculum is great for groups with mixed grades, science clubs or groups that just want something a little different. We also have a new grade nine curriculum called Risks and Limits that focuses on critical thinking and decision-making skills.

Worksheets and take-home materials are available in French upon request.

About School Tours

The CLC is a research and demonstration farm located 18 km south of Prince Albert on Highway #2. The agricultural practices at the CLC focus on conservation of soil, water and wildlife habitat. Since 1994, over 29,000 students have participated in activites based at the Centre.

Arrival:
Morning session 9:30 AM / Afternoon session 12:30 PM
Alternate time arrangements can be made for schools traveling further distances.

Transportation Funding: The CLC is often able to get funding to reimburse schools for some or all of their transportation costs to attend tours at the CLC. Schools must pay for transportation directly and then submit a request for reimbursement to the CLC. Requests for reimbursement must be submitted by July 15 for spring tours and by November 15 for fall tours. After these dates, the CLC will disperse funds considering the number of requests and the amount of funding available. Reimbursement is at the discretion of the CLC. Please call for further details.

* We recommend that each class have a student-to-chaperone ratio of approximately 7 to 1.

The continued support of many organizations and programs enables the CLC to continue offering a quality learning experience to your students. We are grateful for their commitment and encourage you to express your appreciation by sending a letter to any of the sponsors listed in your farm visit packages. Your acknowledgement of their support will in turn ensure future participation by these groups in all education programs.
